Who We Are

Advancing Women
in Every Courtroom

CFAWL is the Central Florida chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, a professional organization built on networking, leadership, and friendship.

The Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers is a professional organization devoted to promoting the advancement and recognition of women in the legal profession, expanding the leadership and involvement of its members in the community at large, and encouraging camaraderie and learning among its members.

Our Mission

CFAWL is committed to the objectives and goals of FAWL, actively promoting gender equality and leadership roles in the legal profession and judiciary by:

  • Supporting women lawyers in achieving leadership positions within law firms, local bar organizations, The Florida Bar, and the American Bar Association.
  • Creating and offering mentoring relationships.
  • Encouraging members to apply or seek election for judicial positions.
  • Encouraging member involvement on boards of government, non-profit, and for-profit organizations.
  • Upholding the highest standards of integrity, honor, and courtesy in the legal profession.

What we do together

Most of CFAWL happens in a room. The monthly luncheon meets on the first Friday of the month, with check-in at 11:30, lunch and the business meeting at noon, and a speaker at 12:30. The annual Judicial Reception puts members in the same room as the Central Florida bench. The Bar Study Scholarship, funded by members and allies, supports a law student through the summer they sit for the Florida Bar.

“Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”

Ruth Bader Ginsburg
