CFAWL Monthly Luncheon (Virtual) FAWL in Love with GAL

CFAWL is thrilled to welcome Thomasina Moore as our guest speaker for our monthly membership luncheon this Friday! Thomasina is the director of appeals and pro bono initiatives for Florida’s Guardian ad Litem Program. In this role, she has helped create several important programs that have increased GAL’s volunteer base and kept volunteers engaged in the process! Thomasina has a true knack for identifying partner organizations and capitalizing on their strengths. In 2019, she worked with FAWL to design a guidance system for foster teens who are aging out of foster care. The “FAWL in love with GAL” program helps these girls navigate the real world through “episodic” mentoring, beneficial to both the teen and the attorney. This type of mentoring program has been a natural fit for FAWL. It’s also productive for the state, as the program was recognized with a Florida TaxWatch Award.

Join us to learn more about the Guardian ad Litem’s efforts, projects, and initiatives, and how they benefit our communities. This program begins at noon, but we’ll open the room starting at 11:30 a.m. for members to network and catch up. Click here to RSVP!

GAL advocates for the best interests of abused, abandoned, and neglected children across the state. So often, these children miss out the every day joys that we take for granted, like a positive note for Valentine’s Day. If you and your family would like to share a smile by sending a valentine(s) to a child in need, please email Mary Walter (mjw@lgplaw.com) for the address of the program administrator who would love pass on the cards! We’ve already received requests on behalf of over 100 children, so your left over valentines cards or your weekday crafts will certainly have an impact!
