Bar Study Scholarship
Background and Purpose
The goal of the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers Annual Bar Study Scholarship is to support the CFAWL mission by promoting the advancement and recognition of law students. The scholarship is meant to help the recipient while they study for the Florida Bar Exam and is made possible through the generous donations of CFAWL members and allies, and CFAWL fundraising efforts.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants for the CFAWL Scholarship must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a full-time or part-time law student who will take the Florida Bar Exam for the first time the summer following the application deadline.
- Although there is no cumulative GPA minimum requirement, academic achievement and excellence will be strongly considered.
- Must have significant campus and community involvement and/or leadership.
Successful applicants will have either:
- Demonstrably promoted the CFAWL mission through CFAWL membership and/or volunteer work; or
- Demonstrably involved themselves in pro bono work on their campus or in their local legal community.
Award and Selection Process
The CFAWL Scholarship award recipient will be selected by a review committee composed of CFAWL members, which will evaluate applicants on the following criteria:
- Academic achievement
- Community service, leadership or volunteerism
- Financial need
The Committee will select their top choices and present those applications to the Board for ratification.
The CFAWL Scholarship Committee will notify all selected recipients in the beginning of May and will be invited to attend the CFAWL Pass the Gavel Installation Luncheon on June 12, 2026 in Orlando, where they will be introduced and receive their award.

The applicant must ensure the scholarship application is complete and that all required information and materials are submitted with the application on or before the deadline. Do not leave any blanks. If an item does not apply, simply write “N/A.”

Applicants will be asked to upload the following documents:
- Personal Essay
- Official law School Transcript
- Resume
- Letter of Recommendation
Essay Instructions
Applicants must submit a personal statement that clearly addresses the mission of the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers and explains how their values, experiences, and goals align with it.
The essay should:
- Describe any leadership roles and community involvement in the Central Florida area.
- Outline career goals and professional aspirations.
- Explain how the Applicant intends to give back to and positively impact the Central Florida community.
- Highlight any relevant honors, achievements, or awards that demonstrate commitment, excellence, and service.
- If the Applicant is not enrolled in a Central Florida law school but intends to return to this area or begin their career here, then the essay should explain what efforts/success the Applicant has had in maintaining or establishing ties to the Central Florida legal community.
Essays should present a clear narrative of the Applicant, their commitment to the legal profession, and how they will contribute to the mission and community CFAWL serves.
Incomplete or untimely applications will not be considered.
